Oracular_Spectacular_2008#12. MGMT- Oracular Spectacular (2007):This Brooklyn based duo [also referred to as “Management”] burst onto the scene with a fun, free-wheeling brand of electro-pop/noise rock.   Beyond the cacophony of weird noises, break beats, synthesizers, and otherwise wacky gadgets, lie irresistibly catchy melodies.  On the anthemic opener “Time to Pretend,” the young duo glamorize and even satirize the rock star lifestyle; on the “The Youth” they do a little prog-rock; on “Kids” they talk about the innocence and wonder of childhood [as if they’re really that far removed]; and they do funk with a little irony on the groovy “Electric Feel.” In the end, Oracular Spectacular – like the artists that made it-  is all about fun; it emanates from every orifice of the record.  If you get a chance, check em’ out live, they’re a riot.
